The Next step in the VFR project was a design of the a new fork crown. I am not happy with the kit I can get from others so I made the decision to design my own. The is done with the a free kit of designtool called Smartsketch. A usefull 2D design program. I Would like to work i Solidworks but I do not have the right computer hardware to do so.

Old memories
When I was a little boy, I use to love seeing these programs about rebuilding. Much of my knowledge comes from these programs. Mark Evans for the win! Enjoy the first episode and find the next in the series on youtube

Overhaul of the DT 400
The DT 400 is currently getting an engine overhaul. The reason for this, was that the main bearings were broke and made funny noises. Here is a video that will tell you how mainbearings not should sound like.
I do not have the right tool for getting the bearings off so the crankshaft is in the hands of a guy with the proper tools. More of the overhaul project will follow

Hello, my name is Rasmus - The second one!
I think it's hightime that I introduce myself on this blog.
My name is Rasmus and as a co-editor and a good friend of Rasmus (confusing right!), I also adore bikes, albeit not as much as Rasmus :)
But I enjoy riding my bikes, be it on- or off-road.
As mentioned in an earlier post, my collection of bikes consists of a Suzuki SV 650 S from 2005 and a Yamaha DT 125 R from 1993.
The Suzuki was my first bike, which I bought almost half a year before I got my license. I don't know if this was the best bike to start with, because of the sub-par suspension and the very sensitive throttle.
The SV has a V-twin engine, with gives it a phenomenal pulling power even from low rpms.
As a beginner this is great, when you haven't learned what gear is best for a particular type of corner.
The throttle sensitivity took some time getting used to, which meant that I spent the best part of a season learning how to corner and position myself on the bike correctly. The good thing (maybe?) is that all other bikes I've tried so far, feels unbelievably easy to ride.
And my second bike is no exception for that matter.
The Yamaha DT 125 R is a small two-stroke off-roader.
I bought it just about a month ago, as I've always wanted an off-road bike.
Oh and it was dirt cheap too :)
It's very nimble which is mostly due to its very low weight.
Great for going off-road, though I've only done a day worth of off-road so far, but loved every part of it, and hope for more to come next year.
It's in need of a good overhauling though, which will be a project for the winter.
Be sure to check the blog for further updates through the following months.

Time to park
The winter is over Denmark
Yesterday I decide to park the MZ for this year. My insurance is not valid in Dec, Jan and feb and i have ones tried to stumble and crash so winter riding is not my cup of te. Yesterday when I parked the bike, the weather confirmed that it was the right decision. The is how my clothes looked like after the ride.// Bored in the winter - Just follow our blog
Everyday bike of the day
Honda CX 500 E
The Honda CX 500E or Euro-sport as it also was named, was the successor of the CX 500 A,B and C.
The CX 500E was upgraded with Hondas mono system(prolink) , a new front, other brakes end and some minor changes to the frame. The CX500 engine is not a special fast engine but is stable and very low on maintenance. The engine is also known for awesome torque in the bottom of the rev scale. It is a V2 engine on 496ccm, water-cooled and placed in the motoguzzi way in the frame.
The E-sport was also launched in a deluxe edition - with a turbo and injection , which was the first series-production bike with a turbo. This bike was know for its turbo lack but was sublime at touring.
The A and B models is becoming famous and is on is way to get classic bike status like the Yamaha XS650 and Kawasaki z650. The turbo is also a desired bike for enthusiast and becoming hard go get and is very hard to maintain because of the injection and turbo.
The CX 500E on the other hand is being rejected by the enthusiast and that maybe the chance for normal, everyday bikers. The CX 500E is a runner and might be the cheap solution to getting on the road.

Why we ride?
Motorcycles are wonderful!
Think about why you ride them. Is It
because of the convenience in cities? Is it because of the low fuel
consumption? Is it because of the relatively low insurance and tax expenses?
For some, these are the reasons, but
I see them as just some of the few benefits coming from riding motorcycles.
The real reason we all ride (or most
of us, hopefully) is because of the sheer fun.
The feeling of the G-forces as you
accelerate, the smell of the exhaust gasses and the vibrations coming from the
warm engine placed in the sparsely spaced frame performing at its peak,
delivering a power-to-weight ratio rivaling the fastest sport-cars that mere
mortals could never afford.
And the sound!
Cut the sound and it wouldn't be the
same thing. The constant dips and raises in engine note deliver the perfect
soundtrack time after time!
This description seems to describe a
good thrashing round the countryside or a lap round the TT-Isle of Man. The
truth is that you don't need a big expensive sports-bike to experience this.
The beauty of motorcycles, is that whatever bike you've got, you'll at all
levels experience the same thrill of riding, and love your bike every second.
What's the most important thing
about your bike?
Winteradventure builds
One of my winter project
Everyone has to maintain their bike but how its done is very individual. Some might use the local mechanic and some might do it their self. I have been tumbling with bikes and engines since I was a boy so a do all the maintenance myself and enjoy doing soThe VFR is a nice ride but after riding 6000 km this year and not being totally satisfied with the rider position on the bike I decided to try fitting a normal bar instead of the clipons.
AGimbelbike - Gimbel is a german company specialised in conversions. |
The Vfr is a Honda and one of the honda´s where the engineer has had a great influence on the bikes design. Therefore the upper fork crown is covered with a painted cover. By removing this cover and the clipons I was able to test fit a bar that we had lying in our stock. And this is how it ended up with:
I am not totally satisfied with the position in either of the solutions so I am happy that the winter is long. The big question is - Can a better and maybe more practical rider position be justified over the looks of the bike? Any thought?

Biker friends
A real biker needs a wingman for a trip around the country ! This is one of mine. He also promised to help me out this winter with this blog. Say hello to Rasmus, who rides a Suzuki SV 650, 2005 and an old Yamaha DT 125R.The bike of the day
Suzuki Gsx-R 750 - 1992/1995
This bike is a fine example of what this blog is about. The Gsx-r 750 was one of the first real superbikes anyone was able buy at the local dealer and trash around the country roads playing participant in the TTFirst air/oil cooled model |

Why this blog
Everyday bikes- But why ?
The creation of this blog has been a process in my head for a long time. I will surf the internet for motorcyclestuff on a daily basis and look at sites like Bikeexif, wrenchmonkees and rocketgarage which is great but what they got on special-company-builds and caferacers they lack of bikes which can be used everyday and which may have a fairing or is on a budget. I found inspiration in the English magazine Practical sportsbikes , introduced to me by a friend. This magazine is all about the joy of riding, what you want rather than what a hipster and small bike companies thinks look cool. The blog will be build on basis of my daily internet-finds and adventures on my own bikes. I hope your will enjoy the reading and maybe get inspiration for your own bike adventures.
